2021/2022 HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND) ADMISSION
The Management of Maritime Academy of Nigeria hereby invites suitable and qualified candidates for admission into various Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes of the Academy for the 2021/2022 Academic Session.
Online registration will commence on Monday, 6th September 2021 and end on Friday, 8th October 2021.
The duration of Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes is two (2) years, divided into four (4) semesters. The following programmes are on offer:
1.0 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
MODE OF CORRESPONDENCE
Candidates seeking admission into the Academy must have a functional and accessible electronic mail (E-mail) address and mobile phone number for correspondence. Candidates are not required to present themselves physically except on invitation through the Website Publication and E-mail/text messages.
B. Marine Engineering
i. Applicants Must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in subjects which must include:
- Mathematics
- English Language,
- Physics,
- Chemistry,
- and any other related Science subjects obtained in NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS
ii. Applicants Must possess a National Diploma Certificate in Marine Engineering with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other institutions accredited by National Board for Technical Education and listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Also, candidates must have JAMB Registration number. Applicant with ND in Boat and Ship Building Technology obtained from Maritime Academy of Nigeria with a CGPA not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) are eligible to apply.
iii. Applicants Must have completed a minimum of one-year post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of one-year cognate work experience in a relevant organisation.
iv. Candidates with PASS at National Diploma level from Maritime Academy of Nigeria must have completed a minimum of two years Post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of two - years cognate work experience in a relevant organisation.
C. Maritime Transport and Business Management
i. Applicants Must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in subjects which must include:
- Mathematics,
- English Language,
- Economics,
- and any two of Geography, Commerce, Government, Financial Accounting and Business Management obtained in NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS.
ii. Applicants Must possess a National Diploma Certificate in Maritime Transport and Business Studies with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other institutions accredited by National Board for Technical Education and listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Also, candidates must have JAMB Registration number.
iii. Applicants Must have completed a minimum of one-year post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or acquired a minimum of one-year cognate work experience in a relevant organization.
iv. Applicants with PASS at National Diploma level from Maritime Academy of Nigeria must have completed a minimum of two years post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or acquired a minimum of two - years cognate work experience in a relevant organisation.
2.0. ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT
Academic Transcript of Applicants from other accredited institution must reach the Office of the coordinator Academic Affairs on or before the Closure of the application portal via the email address [email protected]. Consequently, all applicants should apply to their previous institutions earlier and ensure that the transcript is sent as at when due.
3.0. PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL FITNESS
Due to the peculiar requirements of the Institution and the maritime industry as well as International Convention on Standard of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) 95 as amended which mandates all seafarer to be physically and mentally fit to work in the maritime industry, all applicants are expected to be physically and mentally fit to be able to withstand the rigours/challenges of the cadetship training. Consequently, shortlisted candidates will be required to present themselves for physical and medical screening when invited.
Candidate should print-out Application Medical Examination Form (Form M) from the application portal. This form should be duly completed and signed before upload on the portal.
Candidate are expected to undergo the following medical test at any Government Hospital and upload medical result on the application portal.
The result uploaded on the portal is subject to further confirmation when invited for Screening.
4.0. APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Eligible candidate should take the following steps to start their registration procedure:
- Click on Admission – HND/ND Registration Portal
- Create an Account
- Generate the Payee ID and Print the Payment Slip
- Proceed to any of the bank listed on the dashboard to make payment using eTranzact Payment Platform or pay online
- Return to the Academy Portal to complete your Registration.
5.0 COMMENCEMENT/CLOSING DATE
Application Portal Opens: 6th September, 2021
Applications Portal Closes on: 8th October, 2021.
